MAY 25 – JUN 25 2022 /// MANUEL
SOLO EXHIBITION

First solo exhibition of Rina Balkan, starting her odyssey of sculpture works, starting with the passion of shaping clay by synthesizing varying techniques and materials, is available for display at Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery between May 25th and June 25th, 2022.

During Rina Balkan‟s ongoing exhibition at Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery, another work of the artist with a height of 180 cm created by using mixed technique will be available for display at Turkish Bank Harbiye VK1, in parallel to the exhibition.

The Work Exhibited is titled “Mother Earth”, the core of creation, signifying giving birth, nurturing and growing up, protecting, forgiveness and personification of life itself.

“Rina Balkan’s minimalist and post-minimalist sculptures strike the spectators with their plain imagery and impressive material color. While the artist is visualizing in her sculptures the values and judgments belonging to the biographic history of mankind and sociology of everyday life, handling emotions most humane and natural, such as human nature, feelings, life cycle, is also creating a unique visual satiety from viewpoint of spectators through their technical competence and appeal.” *Fırat Arapoğlu, Faculty Member (Altınbaş University, Art History (PhD)) Art Critique and Independent Curator.

“The abstract and concrete concepts that touch and intervenes my life and the things I perceive are my initial materials. My objective comprises of integrating the concepts I am interested in, with various materials, transforming them into plain form and exhibiting the same under simplest possible expression. My sculptures are my trips through my inner self…” Rina Balkan

Senol Altun
“Photomorphosis & Luminous Sculptures Vol.II”

MAY 30 – AUGUST 1 2018 /// 42 MASLAK ART!SPACE GALLERY
SOLO EXHIBITION

The second solo exhibition of the artist Şenol Altun from Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery will meet the art lovers at 42 Maslak Art!SPACE Gallery between May 30 and August 1, 2018.

The show, whose opening will take place on May 30, can be visited as a large solo exhibition featuring the artist’s “Photomorphosis” photography series at the first floor and his “Luminous Sculptures” downstairs.

Şenol Altun’s Photomorphosis Exhibition introduces a group of photographs that seem to lose their momentary reality and to appear before us from another dimension, as a result of the interaction of light with known objects.

Downstairs, as it was exhibited at the Luminous Sculptures Exhibition that was held in 2014, the show consists of works created from recycled industrial parts, design objects that give a different atmosphere to the place where they are in daylight and ‘light’ in darkness.

Şenol Altun, as a professional photographer who has participated in countless projects, presents to us two large exhibitions composed of two different disciplines and brings to the audience both 2 and 3-dimensional artworks, where the light is used as a tool for design and art.

Kurt Bullend
“I Am You”

NOVEMBER 4 – DECEMBER 7 2017 /// ÇAĞLA CABAOĞLU ART GALLERY
SOLO EXHIBITION

Kurt Bullend was born in 1959 in Istanbul. Despite having a degree in economics, he decided to make his living from painting. The female figures are at the forefront of his works starting with charcoal and continuing with oil painting. Discovering the hyperrealist art was a turning point for him which determined his artistic production and researches in this field. For a year and a half, he carried out research projects about hyperrealism in Paris while working on hyperrealism in various studios of different artists, both in Turkey and abroad. He lived in Moscow for two years and such experience made significant contributions to the development of his artistic language. Kurt Bullend currently works in his studio in Istanbul.

The main theme of the works of the artist that has been determined by the style of hyper-realistic creation, is based upon the existential philosophy. While spiritual topics such as ego-innocence come to the fore in his works, the perception of reality and the distortion of reality are questioned.

The artist, who questions the modern life that people perceive as a reality, shows us the fact that what we actually live is the fiction of a false self who gets used to the rules imposed on us by the social life. Through his works, once again he reminds us our primary of existence by drawing attention to the innocent self that exists in every spiritual being from its birth of the individual who lost his innocence and turned into a fiction again in the fictional universe created by human.
