BIOGRAPHY / ISTANBUL, 1980

After graduating from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture in 2002, he was busy with her graduate studies at the same university between years 2003-2006. In 2008, he commenced with the program of Proficiency In Art at the University of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture. Besides individual exhibitions, his works took part in several mixed art shows both locally as well as international.

Güneş Çınar is renowned with wooden sculptures where modernity, life of modern man, and modern urban surroundings are questions. Mythological stories, fables, dreams, nightmares and fragments from the town are basic themes of origin regarding sculptures and reliefs of Çınar. The artist inquisitions the concepts of town and the bourgeois, fears, anxieties of the individual within the urban ambient, contrasts over such uncertain, hierarchical and complicated structure brought forth by the metropolis. Çınar, passing through the filter of innovative self the restlessness and stress suffered by the contemporary metropolitan man, is nurtured by all of the aforesaid stresses and uses as a narrative tool the towns including diverse niches nested therein. Güneş Çınar generates an effective expression language upon mingling skillfully a mythological narration with contemporaneous problems.
